AS OF JULY 1, VAT ON BABY EQUIPMENT TO BE REFUNDED TO PARENTS

27. March 2018.

Belgrade -  Ana Brnabic, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, said that the Law on Financial Support to Families with Children was a positive one, which, as she explained, would bring the novelty of refunding VAT on baby equipment to all families from July 1, whereby the parental allowance would be increased.

As she said, it would also make things easier for the parents, who will no longer have to collect bills, and eliminate the expense of the Tax Administration’s resources for adding up those bills.

Prime Minister Brnabic pointed out that the parental benefit would, from then onwards, be received immediately at the maternity ward, which had, as she reminded, been achieved in the first phase of the project "Welcome the World, Baby."

"Parents will receive birth certificate, proof of residence and insurance card before the baby comes home. This, now, includes parental allowance, too, so that parents will no longer have to stand in queues in front of the counters," the Prime Minister said.

She also said that the system would be adopted across the country as of this September, reminding that the Council for Population Policy had adopted a strategy for encouraging births, whereby things would be further facilitated for parents.
