ART COMPETITION FOR THE 2016 EUROPEAN PROGRESS CALENDAR BEGINS

21. October 2015.

The art competition for the 2016 calendar of the European PROGRESS, the theme of which is “Europe in My Neighborhood”, begins today for secondary school students from 34 municipalities in the south-eastern and south-western parts of Serbia. The competition is aimed at encouraging secondary school students to think about the potential projects which could improve everyday life in their local communities, especially the one of the youth.

By organizing the competition, the European PROGRESS, with the support of the European Union and the Swiss Government, continues keeping the tradition previously started in the south-eastern and south-western Serbia by the European Development Programs EU PROGRESS, PRO and MIR. The students, as well as their teachers and parents, praised and supported the initiative in the past.

Twelve best art works selected by a panel of experts will be printed on the 2016 European PROGRES Calendar. Young authors of the selected works will be awarded laptops, tablet computers and mobile phones. Based on the total number and the quality of submitted works, as well as on the commitment to organize the internal school-level competition, the best school will be selected, which will win a laptop and a projector. The competition will close on November 15, 2015, while the announcement of winners, the award presentation ceremony and the promotion of the calendar will be organized in second half of December.

The participants in the competition “Europe in My Neighborhood” should present their ideas about the local projects that could bring positive changes to their local communities, while showing an understanding of the chosen topic. All artworks must be accompanied by a caption explaining the presented project and the benefit it would bring to the community and its youth.
