APPEAL NOT TO BURN STUBBLE

14. July 2016.

Leskovac Bratislav Pesic, the Head of the Agricultural Advisory and Expert Office in Leskovac, appealed to farmers of the Jablanica districts not to burn stubble in their fields.

According to Mr. Pesic, the Agricultural Advisory and Expert Office and the Emergency Situations Office constantly coordinate their activities, so that they will make frequent field visits in order to prevent fires and damage to the adjacent land.

“In addition to the fact that the burning of stubble is dangerous, it is also harmful, because it can lead to sterilization of the soil and to the destruction of microorganisms, which can be reflected in poor crops in the coming years,” Mr. Pesic said.

The Agricultural Advisory and Expert Office stated that due to the bad habit of burning stubble, fires, which caused damages worth millions of dinars, were started every year.
