ALEKSANDAR VULIN: "A CHILD THAT FAILS TO ATTEND SCHOOL REGULARLY SHALL LOSE THE RIGHT TO CHILD ALLOWANCE"

20. July 2015.

Amendments to the Law on Financial Support to Families are expected by the end of the year. Apart from property status, the criterion for financial assistance includes the regularity of schooling. A child who doesn’t attend classes on a regular basis and who is absent from school without a valid excuse shall lose the right to child allowance.

This is one of the novelties envisaged by the Law on Financial Support to Families, which will be in the parliamentary procedure by the end of the year.  The amendments to this regulation include children’s and parental allowances, as well as the care and assistance provided by other persons.

This was stated by Aleksandar Vulin, the Minister of Labor, who highlighted that it was a kind of reward to parents for bringing their children up well. Thus, in addition to property status, the main criterion would be the regularity of schooling, because the child allowance isn’t a social category, but a measure for supporting population policy.
