A SESSION OF THE COORDINATION BODY’S PRESIDENCY HELD

A session of the Presidency of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja was held on Monday, October 4, 2010.

Minister Milan Markovic, President of the Coordination Body, talked about the most important developments in the period between the two sessions and he also made a particular reference to the Coordination Body’s work results over the past eight months. Minister Markovic said that the most important achievements in the aforementioned period included the establishment of the Albanian National Council, the agreement on the opening of  a maternity hospital in Presevo, the agreement on the opening of a faculty, the government’s approval for increasing the number of employees in the southern Serbian municipalities, the successful work and cooperation with non-governmental organizations and implementation of several important projects that are aimed at improving the living of primarily young people in these municipalities. In addition, the agreement on translation of spelling-books was reached, school bags and school equipment were distributed to first grade students and a reconstructed square was inaugurated in the center of Presevo.

Minister Markovic pointed out that the Coordination Body’s priorities included integration and improved living conditions for all citizens in South Serbia.

Members of the Coordination Body’s Presidency agreed that understanding, tolerance and patience were the necessary cornerstones of every multi-ethnic community’s policy, and that they enable the achievement of peace, stability and quality living conditions.
