A PUBLIC DISCUSSION ON THE DRAFT LAW ON REFERENDUM AND PEOPLE’S INITIATIVE

While dealing with the procedure of preparing the new Law on Referendum and People’s Initiative, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government is conducting a public discussion on the draft of the said law, which will be taking place from October 25 to November 22, 2019. 

The Ministry calls on representatives of the competent state bodies, autonomous province bodies, local self-governmental bodies, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, professional public, non-governmental organizations and other interested parties to electronically submit their remarks and suggestions to lokalna.samouprava@mduls.gov.rs or to post them to the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, located at  Bircaninova 6, Belgrade.

The draft law will be presented at the roundtables that will be held on November 4, 2019, in Novi Sad, on November 12, 2019 in Nis and on November 18, 2019 in Belgrade.

Upon completion of the public discussion, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will analyze all the remarks, proposals and suggestions received during the public discussion and will, based on it, prepare a report on the public discussion held within 15 days from the date of completion of the public discussion and will post it on the website of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and on the e-Government portal. 

The preparation of the Draft Law on Referendum and People’s Initiative and the organization of public discussions is supported by the Government of Switzerland, as part of the project “Support to the Implementation of the Action Plan for the Strategy for Public Administration Reform – Local Self-Government Reform 2016-2019”.   

The draft law, along with the explanation, the analysis of its effects and the Program of the public discussion are available on the website of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
