Medvedja – The City of Leskovac and the municipalities of Medvedja, Lebane and Vlasotince jointly participate in the regional project "We are Working for a Better Future of Children", the goal of which is to empower young people and encourage parenting. The project is worth 67 million dinars, while around one hundred and twenty young peopple received the agreements.

Thanks to his skillful hands, Borislav Ilic turned a traditional specialty from his mother’s birthplace into his work, so that he has been making the specalty from Stip in Leskovac, which is a city well-known for its grilled meat, for a year and a half.

The 23-year-old entrepreneur from Leskovac will use the grants received through the project "We are Working for a Better Future of Children" to purchase new machinery and improve both his business and product quality.

Stefan Stojiljkovic from the village of Stajkovac, near Vlasotince, bought the vulcanization units with 370,000 dinars and expanded the activities of the company, which is run by his father. Now, he says, can think about staring his own family:

“You have a secure job and start doing something, so that you do not depend on your parents.”

The aim is to empower young people and help them get on their feet, so that they could start and expand their families. Sixty of them, who are from 18 to 35 years old, were given that opportunity in Leskovac and twenty of them in Medvedja, which can already boast of a larger number of schoolchildren.

"There was a lot of interest for this measure," said Jasmina Randjelovic, the Deputy Mayor of Leskovac.

"In particular, the measure has to do with bringing work and parenthood into line. The total amount specified for that purpose is around 22 million dinars."

Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, underscored that they had employed all the young university graduates that year:

"Then, we, together with the “HELP” organization, awarded around fifteen 2,500 dinar grants, while we are, now, going to hand out another twenty or so 400,000 dinar grants.”
