9. March 2021.

Bujanovac - The damage to private residential buildings caused by the January floods in the municipality of Bujanovac was estimated to be 3.8 million dinars.

The residents of Bujanovac who reported damage to their households would be able to receive compensation in the maximum amount of 120,000 dinars, as prescribed for the 1st category damage.

According to Jovica Petrusevic from the Municipal Commission for Damage Assessment, the report has been submitted to the Republican Office for Public Investments and verification is pending.

“We carried out the assessment based on the criteria prescribed by the Office. Damages are classified into 5 categories, from the smallest to the largest ones. All filed applications in our municipality fall into the 1st category, which refers to the flooding of basements and auxiliary facilities. We estimated that a total damage amounted to 3.8 million dinars”, Mr. Petrusevic said.

There were a total of 146 filed applications, including damage caused to agricultural land.

According to the report of the Department for Investments and Development, 36.6 million dinars will be needed to repair the damage caused to the infrastructure.

The local self-government expects financial assistance from the Government of Serbia to compensate for the overall damage.

Nagip Arifi, the president of the municipality of Bujanovac, said that 14.7 million dinars were, at that moment, available for that purpose.
