27. September 2017.

Thanks to the projects implemented over the past three years, through the European Progress Program, by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland,  100 new companies were established and 300 people employed in South Serbia, it was stated by the European Progress Program.

As part of the Progress development program, 251 projects in 34 municipalities in South Serbia are financed, of which 80 percent of them have already been completed.

Works on 19 local infrastructure projects, which are being carried out in 14 municipalities, are taking place according to plan, while over 3.2 million euros have been set aside for them.

“We have considerably improved the economic and social infrastructure, contributed to a greater understanding of the process of good governance and gender equality, and it is up to you to use these processes in the coming period in your work and projects,” said Ana Stankovic, the European Progress Program Manager in Serbia.

It was estimated that 40 major projects could attract the potential investments worth 29 million euros, which exceed the total budget of the European Progress Program for five million euros, while seven municipalities have already received donations of more than three million euros.

The program significantly contributed to the social and economic empowerment of 9,000 people from vulnerable groups, especially women and Roma in respect of their employment, education, improving access to social, health and municipal services, as well as to the exercising of human and minority rights.
