INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMITTING A REQUEST FOR ACCESS TO INFORMATION

The information contained in the documents that are at the Coordination Body’s Office’s disposal shall be available to information seekers and access to the them shall be given or their copies shall be issued, which is in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, unless they are, under the said law, conditions for the exclusion or limitation of the right to free access to the information of public importance.

The procedure for gaining access to public information is conducted in accordance with the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and on the basis of an oral or written request for exercising the right to access information of public importance.

The request must contain the name of the body, the name and address of the applicant, the precise description of the requested information and other data that facilitate the retrieval of the requested information.  

The Coordination Body’s Office shall, without delay and within 15 days of receipt of the application at the latest, inform the applicant if it has the information or not, and shall make the document containing the requested information available to the information seeker, or shall issue or send a copy of the document to him/her. Informing the applicant about making the document containing the requested information available to him/her or about issuing a copy of the document, it shall notify the applicant about the time, place and manner in which information shall be made available to him/her, the necessary costs of making a copy of the document, and in case it doesn’t have the technical means for making a copy, inform the applicant of the possibility to use his/her equipment for making a copy.  

Access to the document containing the requested information, which is free, is performed on  the premises of the Coordination Body’s Office. The applicant may, for justified reasons, request access to the document containing the requested information at a time different from that set by the body from which the information was requested.  

A copy of the document containing the requested information is issued with the obligation to reimburse the necessary costs of issuing copies, in accordance with the cost estimates, which are prescribed by the government. Exempt from paying the costs are journalists, when a copy of the document required is for doing their job, associations for the protection of human rights, when a copy of the document required is for achieving their objectives, except in the cases prescribed by Article 10, Para 1 of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance. 

If the body refuses to fully or partially inform the information seeker about having the information,  make the document containing the requested information available to him/her, issue or send him/her a copy of the document, then it is obliged to reach a decision on rejecting the application and provide a written explanation, as well as to acquaint the information seeker with the legal remedies that he/she may use against such a decision.  

The requirements for exercising the right to access information of public importance may be submitted to the Coordination Body’s Office by post or delivered directly to the writing-office.  The seat of the Coordination Body’s Office is at 2, Mihaila Pupina Blvd, the Palace of Serbia, New Belgrade. 

Working hours of the Coordination Body’s Office are from is 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
