ZORAN STANKOVIC’S VISIT TO THE MUNICIPALITIES OF PRESEVO, BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDJA

Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja - Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja,   talked in Presevo with Ardita Sinani, the Mayor of that municipality, and added that she was willing to have all problems of the local self- government resolved in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

“Ms. Sinani needs assistance since there are many problems in the municipality of Presevo. We promised that we, along with the other bodies of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, would implement economic policy, that no one would prevent the opening of new factories and that changes of directors would be made on the basis of their qualifications, or on the basis of the coalition agreement or the public contest, all in accordance with the legal requirements " Mr. Stankovic said.

Mr. Stankovic also said that Mayor Sinani "expects and requires the full support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the relevant ministries and that she had sent requests for receiving her  seven or eight times".

Mr. Stankovic underscored that the three municipalities had the additional budget through the Coordination Body amounting to 262 million dinars.

“According to the said budget, 45% of it was given to Bujanovac, 41% to Presevo and 14% to Medvedja, "Mr. Stankovic said.  

Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body, said upon the meeting with representatives of Serbs in Bujanovac, that the situation in the area was stable and that efforts should be put into improving the economic conditions and solving the problem of unemployment.

Mr. Stankovic said that the Serb leaders expressed a common view that all problems should be solved within the local Assembly and in cooperation with the relevant institutions.

“We had identical views on all the discussed issues and we assessed that only by working together could we contribute to a better life of citizens in the area. All Serbian leaders stressed that the resolving of the unemployment issue was of major importance, "Mr. Stankovic said.

Serb representatives suggested that the buildings of the factories that did not operate in Bujanovac should be given to interested investors.

“An example of this is the meat processing company "Jugokop '', which does not operate and  investors from Italy are interested in it. Investors in these companies should be brought here, so that workers could be re-hired,” Mr. Stankovic said. 

“They also requested the repair of schools and sports fields, so that young people could hang out with each other," Mr. Stankovic said.

Mr. Stankovic also met with Saip Kamberi, the Mayor of Bujanovac, after which it was mutually agreed that the security situation in the municipality of Bujanovac was stable and that political tensions did not affect the operation of the local self-government.

Following the meeting, Mayor Kemberi said they had discussed the upcoming joint activities of the municipality of Bujanovac and the Coordination Body and the implementation of the planned projects financed from the funds of the Coordination Body’s Office.

Mr. Stankovic underscored that they had discussed the functioning of the Faculty of Economics in Bujanovac, the upcoming enrollment of freshmen and the preparation of secondary school students, who are thought in the Albanian language, for the entrance exam.

The meeting with Mayor Kamberi was also attended by Ivan Bosnjak, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.  

Afterwards, he, together with representatives of the Coordination Body, talked with Jonuz Musliu, the President of the Albanian National Council.

Upon the above-mentioned meeting, Mr. Stankovic said that he had discussed with Mr. Musliu further activities on providing textbooks in the Albanian language, as well as other political issues.

State Secretary Ivan Bosnjak said that he had informed the President of the Albanian National Council  on the holding of the upcoming meeting of the governmental body on the issue of national minorities, in which representatives of all the national councils of the Republic of Serbia would participate.  

The President of the Coordination Body and his associates, thereupon, had a meeting in Medvedja with Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of that municipality.

The President of the Coordination Body announced that meetings with the local leaders of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja would be held regularly, so that the problems in the area could be successfully resolved.
