WREATHS FOR THE SOLDIERS KILLED IN NATO BOMBING LAID IN THE VILLAGE OF RELJAN

Presevo –  The twentieth anniversary of the death of former members of the 78 motorized brigade, who got killed during the NATO aggression, was marked in the village of Reljan, which is situated in the municipality of Presevo.   

Wreaths for the fallen members of the brigade were laid on the memorial plaque by a delegation of the Army, led by Lieutenant General Milosav Simovic, the delegations of the City of Vranje, the municipality of Vranjska Spa, the municipality of Bujanovac, representatives of the Vranje Police Department, the Gnjilane Police Station, the Security Information Agency’s Center, the Association of Liberation Wars  of Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo, the Association of Military Pensioners, the Association of Reserve Military Leaders from Bujanovac, members of families and friends of the killed.  

Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa, the Commander of the Fourth Army Brigade, said that the pain for seven killed members of the 78.  the motorized brigade could not pass in time, but that it could only be alleviated by the passage of time and that they should show to the families of the killed fighters that they were are sympathetic to their loss and that we were always with them.  

"Twenty years have passed since our fighters, who did not ever think evil of anyone, let alone did harm to anyone, got killed in the NATO aggression.  They only defended their homes and their thresholds, "General Stopa said, adding that there were, fortunately, those who survived the aggression, who would be able to tell the future generations how they defended their country.   

Major Ljubisav Stojanovic, Captain Dragan Lukic, Sergeant Major Zeljko Alar, Corporal Dimce Stamenov, Slobodan Mirkovic, a soldier doing national service, and Aleksandar Popovic and Ninoslav Milenkov, privates in the Army Reserves, got killed by NATO bombs.   

The memorial service to the fallen heroes was held by the military priest of the Fourth Battalion of the Army, Lieutenant Vedran Kostic, the Ministry of Defense said.
