WESTERN BALKANS FUND CALLED ON CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS (CSOS) TO APPLY FOR GRANTS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The Western Balkans Fund (FWB) issued a call for grants to fund projects of sustainable development, cultural cooperation and educational and scientific exchanges, in order to promote cross-border and regional cooperation and support the integration of the region into the European Union, it was said in the statement posted on the Fund’s website.

The maximum amount of grants per project is 12,000 euros and they will be awarded to finance up to 80% of the project, while the rest will be provided by the beneficiaries through their own funding, financial assistance from other donors or non-financial assets. The total planned budget under this call is 260,000 euros.

Sustainable development projects that can be funded through this call include those aimed at raising awareness on environmental protection and climate change, support for regional events, such as startup conferences and venture capital fund forums and the promotion of the initiatives aimed at inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

The deadline for applications is December 13, 2018, while the candidates must be notified of the outcome of the assessment of their applications by the end of April 2019. The grant agreement should be signed within one month of the notification of the allocation of funds. 

The applicants for grants must form partnerships that will consist of a leading member and at least two partners. Leading members must be non-profit civil society organizations (CSOs) based in the Western Balkans (WB6) or organizations belonging to one of the following categories: business clusters, agricultural associations, chambers of commerce, tourism associations, universities, schools, libraries, academies of sciences and art, museums, art galleries, theaters, cultural institutions associations and sports associations.

One organization may submit only one application as a leading member of the partnership and a maximum of two applications as partners. The planned duration of the project may not be longer than 12 months, while the project activities should take place in the WB6 region, which covers Serbia as well.
