VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR MIGRANTS IN SOUTHERN SERBIA

Bujanovac – With the aim of enabling migrants to find jobs easily, the Adult Education Center in Vranje started a training course in caregiving and computers for 8 migrants from the reception center in Vranje, while another eight migrants will be trained in hairdessing as of Monday. Also, a training course in tailoring, sewing and handmade jellery began for female migrants at the reception center in Bujanovac.  

The Adult Education Center holds the above-mentioned training courses in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the "Caritas Luxemburg" non-governmental organization.

"The aim of the project activities and trainings is to  provide assistance to refugees, migrants and vulnerable local population in terms of acquiring formal education and obtaining an accredited certificate, in order to improve their position and provide them with the opportunity of finding jobs in the area covered by the trainings," said Gordana Dimitrijevic, Director of the Adult Education Center.

She also said that, according to the agreement reached by the Adult Education Center and the aforementioned organizations, new groups of migrants would be trained for various occupations every month, whereas it was planned to carry out training courses until the end of the current year and in the course of the next one.
