THIS YEAR'S ENTRANCE EXAM WILL BE HELD ONLINE

30. March 2020.

Belgrade - Gifted students who want to enroll in specialized grammar school classes for mathematics, physics, IT, biology and chemistry, as well as for foreign languages, will take their entrance exams online this year, Education Minister Mladen Sarcevic said for the “Tanjug” news agency.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) is currently setting up the application on the Ministry of Education's website, while around 8,000 candidates are expected to take their entrance exams online.  Gifted students applying for one of the specialized grammar school classes will firstly fill in a questionnaire on what equipment needed for online testing they have at home.

"We expect them to have a computer and a laptop with a small camera. Those who do not have them will indicate it in he questionnaire. We'll see if they can borrow them from their friends living in the neighborhood, and if they can't, we will engage schools. Each child will have the necessary equipment.  The estimate is that we have three quarters of the resources,” Minister Sarcevic said.

He underscored that those students were the best ones, that online taking of entrance exams will be organized at intervals, so that the students could try to get enrolled in several schools.  Firstly, entrance exams for the gifted in mathematics and computer science will be done, then for the gifted in physics, chemistry and biology, and lastly for the talented for foreign languages. He states that it is important that the math and physics test models are harmonized so that the students who fail to enroll in math classes and who have passed the entrance exam could enroll in computer science classes, provided they have a sufficient number of points.

Minister Sarcevic also said that as for the enrollment of children in the first grade of primary school, it is sufficient for their parents to e-mail to schools the basic information, which include the name and address of the child. The medical examinations and tests required for school enrollment and class formation will be postponed for the summer.
