THEY TRIED TO ESCAPE WITH 400 KILOGRAMS OF CUT TOBACCO

Vranje – The police seized 396 kilograms of cut tobacco near Vranje. The seized tobacco was without the supporting documentation and in a vehicle with Belgrade registration plates. After having tried to escape from the police, the vehicle was stopped and searched.

According to the Police Department in Vranje, the car in which nearly 400 kilograms of smuggled tobacco was discovered had been stopped on the main Vranje-Vladicin Han road. It was driven by the F.O. (28) from the vicinity of Bujanovac, while B.V. (24) from Bujanovac was in the passenger seat.

Due to illicit trafficking, the suspects were kept in police custody, while both of them, upon being charged for criminal activities, will be brought to the Deputy Prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Vranje.

The seizure of cut tobacco, which doesn’t have the supporting documentation, has almost become a daily occurrence in Vranje, Bujanovac and Presevo, whereas several tons of smuggled tobacco was seized over the past 30 days.
