THERE ARE TEN INCENTIVE MEASURES FOR STARTING A BUSINESS THIS YEAR

20. January 2020.

Anyone with an entrepreneurial idea has more than ten state incentive measures to get their business started this year. Some of the facilities in the previous period were pilot projects that produced good results. Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said at the "Start 2020 Legally" meeting that innovation and youth employment were a priority.

Thanks to the facility of being exempted from paying contributions for a year for start-ups in business, 780 companies were opened, which employed 850 workers.

“I am especially pleased to see where these jobs have been created - mostly in Brus, then in Loznica, Medvedja, Krupanj and Trstenik. Exactly where we need them, "says Ana Brnabic, Prime Minister of Serbia.

The facility has now been extended to three years, with the percentage of relief from taxes and contributions gradually decreasing. Those who pay lump-sum taxes are completely certain this year about how high their debt is. There are no more papers, while the decisions are opened on the Tax Administration website.

"Today, we have twice as many opened than closed companies per year. We also have a better business environment and incentive measures," said Stanka Pejanovic from the Managing Board of NALED.

In five years the number of companies and entrepreneurial activities in our country has increased by 53,000.  If we ranked with the countries of the European Union, we would be in the seventeenth place.

“Germany supports Serbia in public administration reforms that facilitate EU accession and, more importantly, improve the citizens' lives. The entrepreneurial spirit grows when the state sees itself as an entrepreneur partner. “Start Legally” is a good example of that, "points out Thomas Schieb, the German Ambassador.

This is also the year of the competition of cities and municipalities - Entrepreneurship Champions 2020. Those who, using state facilities, open up the greatest number of entrepreneurial businesses will be rewarded. Their success will also depend on how much they invest themselves.

The Prime Minister reminds that we are a country that has twice been declared a leader in attracting foreign investment over the past three years.

“Now let's show that we can also be a world leader in entrepreneurship", Prime Minister Brnabic said.

An additional challenge is the transition from gray to legal business zone. It is estimated that around 66,000 companies continue to operate illegally.
