THE SWISS GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS THE IMPROVEMENT OF SOCIAL PROTECTION IN SOUTH SERBIA WITH 240,000 EUROS

8. July 2020.

Medvedja – Medvedja, Babusnica, Bela Palanka, Prokuplje and Surdulica are the municipalities in which the project of establishing an efficient and sustainable social protection system at the local level will, as part of the Swiss PRO program, be implemented next year.  The beneficiaries of the project will also be the residents of Blace, Kursumlija and Zitoradja.

With the support of the Government of Switzerland worth 240,000 euros and the contribution of local self-governments in the amount of about 73,000 euros, the availability and quality of social protection services will be improved for more than 1,400 citizens from vulnerable social groups.

Local self-governments will independently or in partnership with social work centers, health centers or other local self-governments implement projects in the field of home help services, counseling and socio-educational services, therapeutic services that include a sensory room, as well as a project that provides accommodation for people with disabilities.

The implementation of these projects will improve the position and social inclusion of members of vulnerable groups, especially of the elderly, adults with disabilities, children with disabilities and their families, children and youth with disabilities and behavioral problems, as well as of social protection beneficiaries from rural areas.
