THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN HELPS THE MUNICIPALITY OF MEDVEDJA WITH DONATIONS

Меdvedja - At the end of February, Takahiko Katsumata, the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Serbia, signed six agreements on new projects related to the basic needs of the population. The agreements were signed with representatives of institutions from six municipalities, including the municipality of Medvedja.

The Government of Japan provided 450,095 euros for the Special Hospital for Lung Diseases in Surdulica, the General Hospital in Petrovac na Mlavi and the Kursumlija Health Center, the Dr. Milan-Bane Djordjevic Health Center in Velika Plana, the Kraljevo Health Center and the Medvedja Municipality.

Including these grants, the total amount of Japanese aid through projects for basic needs of the population (POPOS) in Serbia since 1999 is over 14.3 million euros, while the total amount of Japanese aid to Serbia during the same period exceeds 500 million euros.

The agreement on the project of providing a special vehicle by the Embassy of Japan was, on behalf of the municipality of Medvedja, signed by Nebojsa Arsic. 

By this donation, the public utility company "Obnova" from Medvedja received a combined machine with a special extension, the value of which is 76,305 euros.

The Government of Japan provides the financial assistance necessary for the implementation of projects that will contribute to the economic and social development of the country.

Environment, health care, education and social protection are the main areas of interest of the Government of Japan.

Since 1999, 288 POPOS projects have been implemented in Serbia.
