The Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia has been striving to democratize and strengthen the capacities of student parliaments throughout Serbia since its foundation.

During the 17 years of its existence, the Union has achieved great results, and now, having in mind all the previous initiatives, it is opening the first virtual center for student parliaments called the UP Center.

The facility will act as a resource and information center intended to encourage activism and civic participation, as well as to enable secondary school students and members of parliament to undertake their activities in the best possible way.

The UP Center strives to provide practical materials, literature, tools and advice, and in addition, all those interested will have the opportunity to sign up for various trainings and workshops organized by the UP Center. The trainings and workshops are tailored to secondary school students who are just entering the world of activism, as well as to those who already have experience in activism.

According to a survey, student parliaments undertook an average of 3.6 activities during the previous school year. The results of the survey are the basis on which the Program for Strengthening the Capacity of Student Parliaments is being developed, and within the framework of the project "We are Present, but You do not Hear Us!", which was supported by the Belgrade Open School (BOS) within the program "Active Citizens - Better Society: Advocating for Cooperation and Democratic Development of Serbia", which is implemented with the support of the USAID.

The Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia (UNSS) is a youth organization, established in 2003, with the aim of establishing an organization that will represent secondary school students at the national and European level. Today, the UNSS consists of 110,000 secondary school students that are members of 190 student parliaments from 76 cities and municipalities throughout Serbia.
