SUCCESSFUL PAST YEAR AND PLANNED ACTIVITIES FOR THE COMING ONE

The Coordination Body’s Office analyzed the results of its activities in 2012 and prepared a draft action plan for the coming year.

Grants for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, entrepreneurs and agricultural cooperatives were provided for the first time this year. Seven companies from Bujanovac, five from Presevo and three from Medvedja received 40 million dinars.

The first phase of construction of an outpatient maternity ward in Presevo was competed and the site for the building of Subotica’s Faculty of Economics’ department in Bujanovac was chosen.  

Over the past two years, the Coordination Body contributed to the provision of 77 textbooks in the Albanian language for primary school pupils. 

The Coordination Body’s Office provides scholarships to the second generation of students from Presevo and Bujanovac who are studying at the University of Novi Sad. 11 students received the scholarships last year. Nine students enrolled in the second year of study.  As of this year, another 21 students, who receive the scholarships awarded by the Coordination Body’s Office, are studying in Novi Sad.

With the support of the British Embassy in Belgrade, a free school of the Serbian language was organized for the first time for Albanians aged from 15 to 30.  The school is attended by 310 persons from Bujanovac and Presevo.

The Coordination Body’s Office has been granting scholarships to secondary school students from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja for four years.  Over 800 secondary school students, who are either parentless or coming from vulnerable families, received scholarships over the past four years. This year, 231 students received the scholarships.

In 2013, construction and the fitting out of the outpatient maternity ward in Presevo will be completed, as well as the building of Subotica’s Faculty of Economics’ department in Bujanovac.  

The Coordination Body’s Office will continue to stimulate the economic development of the three municipalities. The grants amounting to 60 million dinars will be allocated next year.  

In the course of 2013, all textbooks for students of the third and fourth year of the Faculty of Economics’ department will be translated into Albanian, while the textbooks for pre and primary school education will continue to be provided.  

These are just some of the activities by which the Coordination Body’s Office will improve the quality of life of citizens of the three municipalities, which the said body is responsible for.
