STUDENTS WILL GO TO SCHOOL FOR A WHILE, THEN WON’T GO TO SCHOOL FOR A WHILE

9. July 2020.

Presevo, Bujanovac, Medvedja - The Minister of Education, Mladen Šarčević, stated that due to the infection with the corona virus, 31 secondary school graduates could not take the entrance exam for enrollment in the faculties.

The entrance exam will be organized for them in August, while the results will be accepted as if they took the entrance exam in the first term.

“If necessary, we will expand the quotas. There are 100 faculties in Serbia, which would mean expanding the quotas by one vacancy in every third faculty, "Minister Sarcevic explained.

The Minister stated that the plan was to amend the Law on University Education in order to enable students to take exams online.

“If the Parliament is constituted in a month, we will have the time to make quick preparations for the amendment to the Law on University Education by September, which would regulate taking exams online, "Minister Šarčević said.

He reiterated that several work scenarios were being prepared for the new school year, depending on the epidemiological situation.

Classes for online teaching are already being recorded, but Minister Šarčević is in favor of the combined model, according to which students go to school for a while, and then follow online distance learning for a while.

“We started recording classes in all school administrations. I think it is better to combine things, to teach a little at school, and then to do distance learning for a while. That combined model is more complicated for organizing, but it is better for the students, " Minister Šarčević said.
