STUDENTS OF THE ST. SAVA SCHOOL AT THE FRANCOPHONE SONG COMPETITION - NATALIA REACHED THE SEMIFINALS

28. February 2020.

Bujanovac – The "St. Sava" secondary school from Bujanovac had a representative at the Francophone Song Contest 2020, whose second-grade student Natalija Nikolic participated in the semifinals of the show of musical talents.

On Saturday (February 29th), Natalia will perform the song "Et Si Tu N'Existais Pas" (Joe Dassin)  at the Nis Symphony Orchestra Hall.

She was prepared for the performance and will be accompanied at the competition by Olivera Filipovic, her French teacher, and Nemanja Brankovic, her music teacher.

“A student of our school reached the semifinals last year, too. Natalija will have a strong competition on Saturday, as there are a total of 14 talents from all over Serbia, and the fact that the children sing without a matrix and are accompanied by a large symphony orchestra shows how serious the competition is,” said Ms. Filipovic, the French teacher.

The performances are judged by an expert jury, while a member of the symphony orchestra evaluates the singing, and as the contestants sing in French, another jury member is in charge of the pronunciation.

The Francophone Song Competition has been organized by the French Institute and the Student Cultural Center of Nis since 2004, while amateur singers aged 13 to 28 are eligible to participate in it.

Since the start of the event, according to the French Institute, more than 1000 young people learning French have participated in it.

If Natalija manages to reach the finals, which are scheduled for March 29, she will have the opportunity to display her talent for singing and French on the stage of the National Theater in Nis.
