STUDENTS FROM TURKEY ARE TAKING OFF TOWARD SERBIA TODAY

31. March 2020.

Bujanovac- Students from Bujanovac and Presevo, who are studying in Turkey, will be flown to Serbia today.

Their transfer to Belgrade airport is “expected at any moment”.

“The persons at issue are 37 students who found themselves in a crisis situation caused by the coronavirus. A special flight has been provided for them,” Ragmi Mustafa, the President of the National Council of Albanians (NCA), said.

He stressed that the NCA had contacted all relevant governmental institutions to ensure that the students would be quarantined at Bujanovac Spa upon their return to the country.

“We are in the process of enabling them to be quarantined at Bujanovac Spa.  Many of them fear they might be isolated in another location in the country,” Mr. Mustafa said.

Together with the Mayor of Bujanovac, Saip Kamberi, the NCA sent a letter to the Heads of State and Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, in which, according to Mr. Mustafa, they expressed their willingness to provide transportation to the students from Belgrade airport to Bujanovac.

"We demanded that, depending on their health status, they be either quarantined or self-isolated at their homes," Mr. Mustafa said.

The students contacted the National Council for assistance in returning to Serbia, which then forwarded this request to the competent institutions, whose response was positive.
