“STREET WORKOUT PARK“IN MEDVEDJA OPENS SOON

3. June 2020.

Medvedja - Active involvement of youth in physical activities and the fostering of a healthy lifestyle is implemented through the "Street Workout Park" project, which is funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The project of the municipality of Medvedja was supported by the competent Ministry with 3,244,200.00 dinars, while the local self-government’s share is 342,000.00 dinars. The project envisages arranging the space in the Sports Zone C4, within the yard of the "Nikola Tesla" secondary technical school in Medvedja, where young people, as well as all those who are fond of recreation, would spend their free time doing outdoor sports.

Within the space provided for the workout park, there is a tennis court, a mini football pitch, a trim track about 600 meters long, which should be "covered" with a soft rubber surface, while there are workout devices at every 50 meters that have detailed explanations of how the workout is to be done. The zone of sports and recreation is lighted up with LED lamps, and for those who would like to rest, benches have been set up, as well as litter baskets, so that the space for playing sports could be clean and neat.

The workout devices will be available to everyone, both the regular population and vulnerable groups, but those aged 15 to 30 will benefit from them the most.  With the advice of doctors and other professionals, such as teachers of physical education, this will directly affect their proper growth and development.

“We pay special attention to the health of our young fellow citizens. We hope that with this project we will take young people away from their TVs, monitors and telephones, so that they could spend as much time as possible in a healthy environment and in the fresh air. Playing sports is extremely important for our health, "said the Mayor of Medvedja, Dr. Nebojsa Arsic.

The official opening of the "Street Workout Park" is scheduled for June 11, when the visit of  Vanja Udovicic, the Minister of Youth and Sports, or in his absence, of the officials from the aforementioned Ministry, is expected.
