STATE PAID A 25 MILLION DINAR DEBT TO “GUMOPLASTIKA" WORKERS

26. October 2018.

Bujanovac –  The state, as the majority owner of the Bujanovac "Gumoplatika" company, paid off to the workers of the company the debt of 25 million dinars, said Slavoljub Ristic, the Head of the “Independence” trade union in "Gumoplastika".

The amount refers to the employees’ claims, who suspended the work late last year, or the difference between the salaries they received and the guaranteed minimum salary, as well as to travel expenses from March 1, 2014 to September 30, 2018.

Mr. Ristic says that over 70 workers received the money, and that the individual amounts range from 180,000 to 700,000 dinars.

In early September, the workers of “Gumoplastika", those in the company’s plant in the village Klenike, were on a hunger strike for four days, demanding the government to provide them with a social program, but it turned out that they were not eligible to get it due to prior administrative errors.

"We are still not working because we are currently waiting for the status of the company to be resolved, for its provatization, bankruptcy or some other solution, as there is no work  to be done in the  factory," Mr. Ristic said.

"Gumoplastika" was out from many years out of bankruptcy in August 2015.
