SPA RIVER OVERFLOWED ITS BANKS IN SIJARINSKA SPA, MOST OF MEDVEDJA WITHOUT ELECTRICITY AND MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL

12. January 2021.

Меdvedja - Almost half of the territory of the municipality of Medvedja is without electricity. The most critical situation is in Sijarinska Spa, where the Spa River overflowed its banks. Several households were endangered, as well as the wood processing plant, and the bridge was taken away.

Heavy rains caused major problems last night. Residents of the villages of Bučumet, Lece, Drenac, Stuble, Djulekar, Kapit, Retkocer, Sponce, Gornji Maćedonac, Petrilj, Tular, Borovac, parts of Svirc, Braina, Gubavac, Medevac, Poroštica, Mrkonja, Bogunovac, Čokotina, Slišan and the pit of the Lece mine do not have electricity due to extensive breakdowns on transmission lines, Radio Medvedja reported.

The power outage also caused disruptions in the work of some mobile operators. Communication within the municipality is extremely difficult. Competent persons from the electricity distribution company in Medvedja say that their teams are constantly in the field, that they have received assistance from the neighboring municipalities and are doing everything within their power to normalize the current situation.

During the night, the Spa River overflowed its banks, which caused greater material damage to some households and took away two bridges.

The president of the municipality of Medvedja, Nebojsa Arsic, along with his associates, is constantly in the field. All possible measures are being taken to help people, and the good news is that the water is slowly receding.

The Medvedja-Pristina highway was out of operation until yesterday morning due to the overflowing of the stream.
