SOUP KITCHEN FOOD PROVIDED AT FOUR COUNTERS IN BUJANOVAC AND ITS SURROUNDING AREA

9. July 2020.

Bujanovac – The Bujanovac Soup Kitchen has started operating again. The operation of the soup kitchen, where all protection measures will be respected, is ensured for the next nine months.

In addition to dishes for cooked meals and bread bags, masks are also required. The poorest locals, social assistance beneficiaries, the unemployed and low-income pensioners come here to pick up the meals for their family members.

There are enough groceries to prepare the meals, while the Soup Kitchen will operate until March next year. Food is distributed at 4 spots, which are located in Bujanovac itself and the surrounding villages. Masks for Soup Kitchen beneficiaries also arrived from the Red Cross of Serbia.

The Soup Kitchen beneficiaries who do not have masks get them at the Soup Kitchen, so that they could  take over the food, says Sasa Petrovic.

Complete disinfection of the kitchen is done every day, as well as of vehicles and bread racks. 1200 locals or 476 families come here for a meal. The Soup Kitchen has a waiting list, too.

“There are around 200 persons on the waiting list. They will be included in the program the moment when one of the current beneficiaries stops taking food regularly, "says Bratislav Lazarević from the Red Cross.

The distribution of food and hygiene packages was also completed, which were handed out to 400 families in 30 local communities.
