SERBIAN PRESIDENT VUČIĆ: SOUTH SERBIA IS DEVELOPING RAPIDLY, WHILE MORE CONCTERE ACTIONS ARE BEING PLANNED

1. October 2018.

Nis – During his two-day stay in Nis, when two factories, the Austrian "Cumtobel" and the Philippine "Imi", were opened, Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, held a meeting with the Governors of the Nis, Pcinj, Jablanica, Toplica and Pirot districts, the Mayors of the cities and the Presidents of the local self-governments. Discussed at the meeting were the possibilities for the development of the cities and municipalities in five southern Serbian districts.

Following the meeting, at a press conference on the issue of whether any concrete projects and proposals, which would be implemented in the southern Serbian cities, had been agreed or it would continue to be " the farther south one goes, the sadder it gets”, President Vucic replied:

"The saying “the farther south one goes, the sadder it gets” has not been true for South Serbia for a long time. The southern part of the country is rapidly approaching other parts of Serbia, and in some places in the southern part of the country, fortunately for them, as well as for other parts of the country, the situation has significantly and dramatically improved, but it must be even better.”

President Vucic said that thanks to investors, the situation in Vladicin Han was currently much better than five or six years before. He recalled that the "Jumko" plant was finally operating, while its employees worked in two or three shifts. The situation in Doljevac, as President Vucic said, was decent.

“What I am very worried about is Toplica. We will have to invest a lot more in Toplica. We need to fix the fiscal situation in Leskovac and Vranje. The “Delfa” company is coming to Leskovac. We have many more projects. People from Surdulica asked for a sewerage ring around Vlasina, which is worth 17 million euros, making it a very expensive project. We are building highways and no one will have a network of highways as southeast Serbia does, " the President said.

President Vucic underscored that the time that was coming was a lot better but that there were still many things that still needed to be done. The President pointed out that he had discussed only concrete matters at the meeting with the presidents of local self-governments and that they had informed him of a lot of utility and infrastructure problems.

"First factory came to Lebane after 30 years and now people are asking for more factories. It is good to ask for more, because it means that people regained faith in life. They regained hope in a different and better future, " the President said.

President Vucic said that Bojnik had received the funds for its agro complex from Europe, and that the government would help with 226,000 dinars.

"I want to believe that we can improve many more things and I think people believe in it, because they can see that we work hard. We are working more than ever, and more than ever will be invested in southern Serbia, " President Vucic said.
