SCHOLARSHIPS FOR POVERTY-STRICKEN SECONDARY SCHOOL AND PARENTLESS PUPILS

The Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja keeps on providing assistance to the neediest inhabitants of South Serbia. After allocating one –off assistance of six million dinars to persons with special needs, single mothers and parentless children, an open competition was announced for granting scholarships to parentless secondary school students from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, as well as to pupils coming from families with inadequate means of support.

Two million dinars were put aside for awarding scholarships to these pupils. A monthly value of the scholarship is five thousand dinars and it is to be granted during the last four months of the year. The scholarships will be given to secondary school pupils who need assistance the most.

Priority will be given to parentless pupils, single - parent families and those coming from families whose total incomes are less than 15,000 dinars per month. It is necessary for these pupils to be nationals of the Republic of Serbia, to have residence in the territory of the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and to be enrolled in one of secondary school grades in these municipalities. It is also necessary that they haven’t repeated any grades in the course of their education.  The entire documentation on the open competition will be available on the Coordination Body’s website www.kt.gov.rs, as well as at the Coordination Body’s Offices in Presevo and Bujanovac. The competition will be opened until September 5, 2009.

Depending on the funds, the awarding of scholarships to the neediest secondary school pupils will go on until the end of the 2009/2010 school year.
