ROUNDTABLE HELD IN BUJANOVAC PRIOR TO THE ELECTIONS FOR NATIONAL MINORITY COUNCILS

Bujanovac – As part of the project "Towards a Greater Awareness of the Albanian and Bosniak National Minority of the Upcoming Elections for National Councils of National Minorities", which the CeSID conducts with the financial support of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, a round table entitled "Towards the Elections for National Councils of National Minorities " was held.

The importance of voter registration and related matters were discussed at the roundtable on the electoral process, which was held in the small hall of the “Vuk Karadzic” Cultural Center in Bujanovac.  

Bojan Klacar, the Executive Director of the CeSID, Emilia Orestijevic, the Project Coordinator, and Rahim Salihi, a representative of the Municipality of Bujanovac, spoke at the roundtable.  

The elections for National Minority Councils will be held on November 4. In 2018, 22 minority communities are to elect members of the national councils, of which 18 ethnic minorities met the conditions for direct elections, which are the Albanian, the Ashkali, the Bosniak, the Bulgarian, the Bunjevac, the Vlach, the Greek, the Egyptian, the Hungarian, the German, the Polish, the Romany, the Romanian, the Ruthenian, the Slovak, the Slovenian, the Ukrainian and the Czech one, while four minority communities met the conditions for the elections through the electoral assembly, which are the Macedonian, the Croatian, the Montenegrin and the Russian one.
