RESIDENTS OF LEBANE AND MEDVEDJA PRESERVE THEIR MEMORIES BY HOLDING AN ASSEMBLY IN ITALY

25. October 2018.

Medvedja – The Serbian Cultural Association "Saint Sava", which was founded in 2011 with the aim of gathering displaced persons from South Serbia, held the fifth assembly of the Serbs called "Save from the Oblivion" in the Italian city of Valdanjo in the Veneto region.

A large number of Serbian families from Lebane and Medvedja live in that and other cities in northern Italy, while the number of emigrant families has never been determined.

The assembly was made more important by the songs and dances performed by the folk ensembles "Jablaničko kolo" from Lebane and "Razigrano kolo" from Medvedja, while, at the same time, the officials had a few meetings.  Thus, the agreement on cooperation between the representatives of Valdanjo and the municipalities of Lebane and Medvedja was signed.

Prior to the signing, the Mayor of Valdanjo, Giuseppe Giancarlo Acerbi, held a reception for the delegation from Serbia, which, on behalf of the municipality of Lebane, consisted of Dragan Jovic, the principal of elementary school "Vuk Karadzic," and his associates, as well as the Mayor of Medvedja, Nebojsa Arsic, with his associates.

Discussed at the meeting were the possibilities for cooperation between the three municipalities, whereas the Mayor of Valdanjo was invited to pay a visit to the municipalities of Lebane and Medvedja, so that the ties could be further consolidated.
