RECONSTRUCTED VRANJSKA SPA-RISTOVAC SECTION OF THE RAILROAD PUT INTO OPERATION

3. March 2017.

Vranje - The reconstructed Vranjska Spa-Ristovac railway line on Corridor 10, which is 17.7 kilometers long, was put into operation yesterday. The event was attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, while the trains, instead of the current 50, will be able to run up to 120 kilometers per hour on that section of the railroad.

The value of the entire project is 10.5 million dinars. Two other “southern” railway sections, the reconstruction of which is also financed by the Russian loan, are located on that railway route, too.

The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Cepurin,  Director General of "RZD International" Sergei Pavlov and the acting Director General of "Serbian Railways Infrastructure" Dusan Garibovic.

“We have started restoring the citizens’ confidence in the Serbian Railways," Prime Minister Vucic said at the opening of the reconstructed section of the railway.

The said section of the railway was reconstructed by funds from the Russian loan, while the Prime Minister said to the Russian friends at the opening ceremony that the two countries could continue cooperating even better and more successfully.

Prime Minister Vucic said that talks on investing in several spas in Serbia had been held with one of the largest and richest investors in the world, and that they wished that all spas be offered on the market in the “cluster” form.

"I am having talks on Vranjska Spa, too. I had important talks on Bujanovacka, Sijarinska, Niska and Zvonce Spa with some major investors the day before yesterday,” said Prime Minister Vucic in Vranje.

Russian Ambassador Alexander Cepurin said that Russia and Serbia needed to improve their economic cooperation and that infrastructure should become one of the most important "clusters" for cooperation between the two countries.

"Cooperation should be strengthened in the fields of energy, agriculture, tourism and construction, too," Ambassador Cepurin said.

"The Russian and Serbian Railways should work together beyond the borders of Serbia," said Sergei Pavlov, the Director General of the “RZD International” company, which implements railway projects in our country.

“The shared experience that we have acquired and the foundations of that fraternity, which we  pledged, will be very necessary to us in the future when, as planned , we will be working beyond the borders of Serbia," Mr. Pavlov said in Vranje.

"The Government of the Republic of Serbia has given new energy to the railway sector and is leading the Serbian railways to the European railway network," said Dusan Garibovic, the acting Director General of Serbian Railways Infrastructure.
