Presevo – Today, a new truck for the collection and disposal of garbage will be handed over to the public utility company “Moravica” from Presevo. The truck was purchased with the funds provided, through the European Progress program, by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland.

The handover of the truck event will be attended by Isabel Perich, the Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Serbia, Richard Masa, the Head of Operations at Section III of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and Jelena Colic, the Deputy Director of the Coordination Body’s Office for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.

The donated truck for the collection and disposal of garbage, the value of which is 70,000 euros, will considerably assist the local utility company with maintaining satisfactory hygienic and sanitary conditions, which are necessary for receiving people and maintaining cleanliness in Presevo, where over 2,000 migrants and refugees arrive on a daily basis.

The European Union and the Government of Switzerland support the implementation of the European Progress program, which contributes to the sustainable development of the southern and southwestern Serbia, with a total of 24.46 million euros. The program aims to strengthen the local administration, provide a favorable environment for the development of infrastructure and economy and improve the implementation of policies in the field of social inclusion. Field activities are undertaken by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

The European Progress program covers 34 local self-governments, including the local self-governments of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.
