PUBLIC DEBATE ON THE DRAFT LAW ON REFERENDUM AND PEOPLE'S INITIATIVE (DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 22, 2019)

In the process of drafting the law governing the field of local self-government, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government is conducting a public debate on the Draft Law on Referendum and People's Initiative.

The public debate runs from October 25 to November 22, 2019.

The Ministry invites representatives of the competent governmental bodies, autonomous province bodies, bodies of the local self-governmental units, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, professional public, non-governmental organizations, as well as other interested parties, to submit their comments and proposals to the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the e-mail address of which is: lokalna.samouprava@mduls.gov.rs , and by post to: the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Belgrade, Bircaninova 6.

Upon completion of the public debate, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will analyze all the objections, proposals and suggestions received in the public debate and based on them will prepare a report on the held public debate within 15 days from the day of the public debate, and publish it on the website of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the e-Government portal.

The drafting of the Law on Referendum and the People's Initiative and the organization of public debate are supported by the Government of Switzerland under the project "Support to the Implementation of the Action Plan of the Public Administration Reform Strategy - Local Self-Government Reform 2016-2019".
