PUBLIC CALL FOR THE "IMPROVEMENT OF THE POSITION OF ROMA MEN AND WOMEN IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA IN 2020" (DEADLINE: JUNE 12, 2020)

1. June 2020.

The Office for Human and Minority Rights of the Government of the Republic of Serbia has issued a public call for the "Improvement of the Position of Roma Men and Women in the Republic of Serbia in 2020".  The call is issued for the allocation of financial resources to the associations registered in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, which should submit the program proposal in cooperation with at least one other association. The implementation of the program, in accordance with the Strategy for Social Inclusion of Roma Men and Women in the Republic of Serbia in the period from 2016 to 2025, should achieve the following goals:

  1. Encouraging positive action of the wider social community towards the representatives of the Roma population in order to prevent discrimination, especially of multiple discriminated Roma men and women; 

  2. Improving the position of Roma men and women through ensuring the exercise of their rights to education, employment, health care, especially having in mind the declared pandemic of the COVID-19 infectious disease, with the aim of suppressing and preventing the spread of the infectious disease;

  3. Improving access to social protection services for the purpose of reducing poverty and increasing the social inclusion of Roma men and women in the local community, as well as providing and promoting integrated local services/ programs.

The call is open until June 12, 2020.
