PUBLIC CALL FOR SUPPORTING RESPONCE TO THE CONSEQUENCES OF COVID 19 IN SUBSTANDARD ROMA SETTLEMENTS (Deadline: February 26, 2021)

With the backing of the Government of Switzerland, the Swiss PRO program will  support 10 local projects through a new public call, which is aimed at improving access to the rights and basic needs of male and female citizens living in substandard Roma settlements.

The total budget of the public call is 122,700 euros. The value of the non-refundable funds per project will be from 10,500 to 12,700 euros.

The duration of the project is from eight to ten months. Partnerships with civil society organizations are required for project proposals of local self-governments, while CSOs can also apply individually.

The deadline for submitting project proposals is February 26, 2021.

How to apply?

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • That it is one of the 57 local self-governments (which, among others, include Presevo and Bujanovac) from the region of Šumadija and Western Serbia or the region of Southern and Eastern Serbia, which in accordance with the Mapping of Substandard Roma Settlements have in their territory at least one informal settlement with at least 100 citizens, in mandatory partnership with a civil society organization;
  • CSO as an individual project applicant that will address the rights and needs of the citizens living in substandard settlements, mitigating the consequences of COVID19 in the territory of 59 local self- governments ((which, among others, include Presevo and Bujanovac), which in accordance with the Mapping of Substandard Settlements in Serbia have at least one informal settlement with at least 100 citizens;
  •  A CSO as a project applicant or as a local self-government’s partner must be registered for at least two years and have experience in improving the status of the Roma national minority.

In order for the interested local self-governments to find out all the details of the public call, including the method of application, project selection criteria and eligible costs, the Swiss PRO program will organize two information sessions via the Internet:

  • On Tuesday, February 2, beginning at 11 a.m.
  • On Friday, February 5, beginning at 11 a.m.
