PUBLIC CALL FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE ANNUAL NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR THE BEST PRACTICES IN THE USE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF GOOD GOVERNANCE AT THE LOCAL LEVEL IN 2018

The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) – the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Serbia (ATMS) - issued a public call for the selection of best practices in the field of use of the principles of good governance at the local level designed for municipalities and urban municipalities, which contributed the most to the development and use of the principles of good governance in their territory in 2018.

The public call was issued in accordance with the activities of the project "Improvement of Good Governance at the Local Level", which is implemented by the Ministry and the SCTM as part of the program "Support of the Government of Switzerland to Municipal Development through the Promotion of Good Governance and Social Inclusion - Swiss PRO" (Swiss PRO Program), and which is supported by the Swiss Government and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). In this way, the Ministry, the SCTM and the UNOPS - The Swiss PRO Program, want, through the promotion of best practices and the presentation of the results achieved at the local level, to promote the further development of the principles of good governance in the operation of the local authorities.

Under the public call, the total funds that will be allocated to local self - governments with the best practice in the use of the principles of good governance amount to 12.000,00 US dollars. The winners in each of the four areas will be eligible for a financial award in the amount of 3.000,00 US dollars.

The envisioned financial award is a form of financial support for the promotion of good governance or the undertaking of activities or the acquisition of goods and services proposed by the financial award winners, subject to prior approval by the selection committee. The amount and purpose of the funding will be set by a contract concluded by and between the winner and the SCTM, as the implementer of the project "Improvement of Good Governance at the local level," in which the award fund was established.
