On the premises of the Press Centre at the building of the municipality of Bujanovac, 18 businessmen from Presevo and Bujanovac signed agreements on the allocation of grants for subsidizing small and medium-sized companies and agricultural cooperatives. At the competition in these two municipalities, a total of 48 million dinars were granted to 10 companies from Bujanovac and eight from Presevo.

Funds for the grants were awarded to businesses based on the program of measures for distribution and use of the funds for subsidizing businesses in private hands in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, which the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted on April 30, 2013. A positive opinion on the program of measures was given by the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-government and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.

The conditions for approved funding in the competition included the following: positive results for at least three years, having the taxes and contributions paid for all the obligations, that no bankruptcy or liquidation proceedings were instigated and that the companies weren’t prohibited from carrying out their businesses over the past two years. Another condition was that the business entities had at least two employees employed for an indefinite period of time.

56 contest-related applications were received from the three municipalities, while the application submission deadline was June 11, 2013. Participating in the work of the selection board were representatives of the Coordination Body, the three municipalities, the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-government, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and an independent expert.

Given that there were no correct applications among the companies which applied for the municipality of Medvedja, the amount of 12 million dinars remained undistributed. The Coordination Body’s Office reached a decision on repeating the competition for the companies from the municipality of Medvedja, which will be announced in August 2013.
