The Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja stated that it hadn’t been informed by representatives of the municipality of Presevo about the construction and erection of a monument to the so-called Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja (LAPBM) in the city center. To our knowledge, the monument was erected in the morning of November 16, which was followed by the holding of a meeting, which hadn’t been reported in advance. 

According to the applicable Law on Planning and Construction, the local self-government or the municipality is responsible for the construction of the monument. 

Under the Serbian Constitution and other applicable laws, any activities that may cause and encourage racial, ethnic, religious or other types of hatred and intolerance are prohibited and punishable.  

The Coordination Body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja stated that it would initiate a clarification of the event and do everything within its power to make the laws of our country be respected and binding for all citizens.
