PRESIDENT VUCIC: WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT PRESEVO, BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDJA

29. August 2017.

Leskovac – Aleksandar Vucic, the President of the Republic of Serbia, said yesterday evening at the opening of the Grilled Meat Festival in Leskovac that the Government would continue to support the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja in order to prevent the residents of those municipalities from leaving them, noting that Albanian representatives had complained to him about the issue.

At the remark of journalists that Serbs, too, moved out of those municipalities, President Vucic said that they did so but "to a lesser extent."

But I would not count people in such a way and speak about who is there and who is not,” President Vucic said, saying that support to these municipalities would continue to be provided.

He recalled that migrations "occurred everywhere" and illustrated that by saying that twice as many people were leaving Croatia than Serbia, although Croatia is twice smaller country than Serbia.

“People go where they can earn more, "explained President Vucic and said that it was, therefore, up to Serbia to improve its business environment.

“And we should fight for people to stay here and employ as many young people as possible,” President Vucic said, adding that "this is what we can do, while it is impossible to keep them by means of political decrees. "
