PRESIDENT VUCIC ANNOUNCES LARGE-SCALE TESTING FOR CORONA VIRUS, NIS MILITARY HOSPITAL FOR THE MOST SERIOUS PATIENTS

24. March 2020.

Belgrade – The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said at a press and media conference last night that a change of approach in the fight against the corona virus was the main conclusion of the meeting held with the experts from China, and that a large-scale testing of all those suspected of having the corona virus or those that had been in contact with the infected would start soon.  That would require a different organization, so that he announced, among other things, that the most difficult patients would be accommodated at the Nis Military Hospital, and that it was possible that those with the mildest symptoms would be accommodated at the “Cair” hall.

“The large-scale testing will start in about 48 hours," President Vucic said, adding that there were enough tests for the coming days and that new tests would arrive from China.

With more tested people, there will be more confirmations of the infected, while the plan for those with "absolutely mild symptoms" is to hospitalize them. President Vucic pointed out that the plan to deal with so many patients was through their triage.

Patients from South Serbia who are in a difficult condition will be placed at the Nis Clinical Center, the Pulmonary Disease Clinic, which is located in the old part of the Clinical Center, and probably at the Nis Military Hospital.

President Vucic also said that there would be no extension of the curfew, which had been largely written about over the previous few days.

As for the March pensions, it was announced that they would be paid in one portion instead of in two portions, on April 10, along with 4,000 dinars of financial assistance.
