PRESIDENT OF THE COORDINATION BODY’S FIRST VISIT TO SOUTH SERBIA’S MUNICIPALITIES

4. December 2012.

The President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Prof. Zoran Stankovic, PhD, visited Presevo and Bujanovac yesterday and met with the Mayors Ragmi Mustafa and Nagip Arifi ,  heads of  the groups of councilors and with representatives of the political parties. Following these meetings in Bujanovac, contracts were signed with representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, to whom 40 million dinars of grants had been allocated through a competition of the Coordination Body’s Office. Seven companies from Bujanovac, five from Presevo and three from Mevdedja should use these funds to improve their businesses and create new jobs.

The contracts were handed over to the businessmen by the Coordination Body’s President Prof.  Zoran Stankovic, PhD, Presevo Mayor Ragmi Mustafa, Bujanovac Mayor Nagip Arifi, Medvedja Mayor Slobodan Draskovic and by USAID Director Susan Fritz.

“The 40 million dinars, which the state had allocated for job creation, are too small an amount for this poor region. I'm sure that next year we will provide larger subsidies to those who have the ambition to further develop their businesses ", Mr. Stankovic said.

The municipal presidents and businessmen from South Serbia gratefully acknowledged the allocation of the resources, noting that the state needed to find an opportunity to help those who had a vision of a better future in the same and similar ways.
The Coordination Body’s Office earmarked 60 million dinars for the next year’s economic development assistance program in South Serbia, which is by 20 million dinars more than it did this year.

Today, Prof. Zoran Stankovic, PhD, will visit Medvedja, where he will have talks with the Mayor Slobodan Draskovic, the Deputy Mayor Fljorim Sahiti and with the President of the Municipal Assembly Natasa Filic.
