PRESEVO, BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDA WERE AND WILL REMAIN PART OF SERBIA

25. February 2019.

Belgrade – "There is no question of any exchange of the territory of the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. That region has always been, is and will remain part of Serbia. Various speculations about the exchange only disturb both the Serbian and Albanian population in South Serbia, "said Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, while commenting on the more and more frequent stories about new borders.

”As far as I know and according to the contacts that I have, those stories have no basis in any plans and negotiations. They are not a topic of discussion in Brussels, nor in any other place, "Mr. Stankovic said.

According to him, the stance of the international community on this issue is explicit - there are no changes.

“The position is clear, there is no exchange of territory, there is no exchange of population and there is no border correction. Therefore, I think that people can be calm, "Mr. Stankovic said.

Anyhow, a few days ago, Hasim Taci, the President of the Pristina provisional institutions, requested that the Resolution on the Accession of the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja from the southern part of Central Serbia to Kosovo and Metohija be included into the platform for dialogue with Belgrade. He said that the Kosovo Assembly would propose a draft resolution on the accession of those municipalities to Kosovo and Metohija.
