PLAY 017 “CHECKED OUT” THE GERMANS

Bujanovac – Pioneers of the “Play 017” basketball club played in Bujanovac a friendly match with the “Eisbären Bremerhaven” team from Germany and won with a 57:28 score.

“The result wasn’t a priority. The most important thing is that the kids socialized with one another and that it was agreed for our club to visit the tournament, which they traditionally organize. The tournament starts in Germany on January 31, 2015, whereas our team of pioneers will be one of the participants”, said Nenad Stajic, the coach of the basketball team from Bujanovac.

The coach who brought the children to Bujanovac is called Dejan Stojanovski. He was born in Kumanovo and has been living in Germany for 25 years.

“Mr. Stojanovski has his own basketball academy, but he also works as a trainer in Eisbären. It's a first-division team that plays in the basketball Bundesliga. He has been coaching for seven years”, said Mr. Stajic.

The “Play 017” basketball club is one of the few clubs in Serbia that isn’t funded from the funds of the local self-government, and yet it has existed for four years. The club is multinational, because around 170 children with the Serbian, Albanian and Roma ethnic backgrounds are trained in it.
