PARTICIPATION OF MEDVEDJA IN THE SECOND PHASE OF THE EVALUATION OF THE PROJECT "INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT OF THE STANDING CONFERENCE OF TOWNS AND MUNICIPALITIES (SCTM)”

Belgrade, Medvedja - Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, participated in the evaluation of the project "Institutional Support of the SCTM - Phase 2", which was held in Belgrade from January 22 to 25.

Mayor Arsic discussed the topic with two evaluators, one from Switzerland and the other one from Serbia, who tried to exchange with him their experiences on the implementation of the project.

The said project is a continuation of the successfully implemented institutional support provided by the SCTM in the period from 2010 to 2014, with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, within which the continued impact of the local authorities on the development of national public policies and regulations that apply to them will be provided.

The project participants will also try to provide basic support to the implementation of the adopted legislation, in cooperation with local self-governments, within the framework of the SCTM bodies and in direct communication with the cities and municipalities.

The most important activities and the results implemented or supported through the SCTM’s institutional support include the financing of local self-governments, public ownership of local self-governments, the legalization of illegally constructed buildings, planning and construction, the program budget, dual education, public health, etc.

During 4 years of the implementation of the project, and for the purpose of representing and protecting the interests of municipalities and towns, the SCTM actively participated in the drafting or amending of 40 legal, program or strategic national documents.
