OVER 300 STUDENTS OF THE “BRANKO RADICEVIC” ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RAN TO HELP THEIR SCHOOLMATES

17. October 2019.

Bujanovac – More than 300 students of the “Branko Radicevic” elementary school in Bujanovac participated at the city stadium in Bujanovac in the "Race for a Happier Childhood" for the purpose of helping their schoolmates who are in a worse financial situation than they.

Boys and girls, students of all grades of this school, put aside 50 dinars each for a coupon that allowed them to participate in a traditional Red Cross humanitarian campaign for raising finacial assistance.

“The activity is organized annually by the Red Cross of Serbia throughout the country and it is one of the most massive humanitarian activities. By participating in the race, the children promote a healthy lifestyle and, more importantly, show their humanity, because all the proceeds from the purchase of starting numbers or coupons are forwarded to the school for improving the socio-material standard of students in need,” says Vlastimir Stojkovic from the Bujanovac Red Cross.

Anastasija Stajic, the winner of the race and a seventh grade student, said that she won every year and that she ran "to help my friends, but also because it's fun."

Kevin Iseni, the fastest among the seven-graders, signed up to participate in the race in order, as he put it "to honor the teacher, help my classmates and show that I am the fastest".

“I didn't run in order to win. It was important to me to participate and thus help the others,” said Mateja Stojanovic, a sixth grade student.

“The Race for a Happier Childhood” was organized by the Red Cross from Bujanovac at the “Ali Bektasi” primary school in the village of Nesalce, too, where about 100 students participated in the race, while 170 students from the “Vuk Karadzic” primary school in the village of Levosoj also took part in the race for the sake of their friends.
