OVER 130 RESIDENTS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BUJANOVAC HAVE, SO FAR, SUBMITTED REQUESTS FOR COMPENSATING THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE FLOODS

27. January 2021.

Bujanovac – In less than two weeks since the flood damage began to be reported in the municipality of Bujanovac, around 130 locals have submitted requests for compensation to the local Emergency Staff.

Given that the deadline for submitting the requests expires on February 13, it is to be expected that the final number of citizens who will ask the Municipality for financial assistance for repairing the damage to their households will be much higher.

The largest number of requests received so far is from the residents of the villages of  Lucani, Oslare, Konculj, Levosoje, Novi Naselje and Bujanovacka Spa.

It was those places that were most affected by the floods on January 11.

In addition to the compensation from the local self-government, state aid has also been announced.

Four days ago, the Government of the Republic of Serbia declared a state of natural disaster in the municipality of Bujanovac and 17 other municipalities in the southern part of the country, announcing that in that way it would be able to provide financial assistance for the flooded areas.

This decision will trigger the mechanism of the Office for Public Investment Management for sending financial assistance for the reconstruction of damaged family housing facilities owned by the citizens, public facilities in public ownership and infrastructure, the Government of the Republic of Serbia stated.
