Implementation of the Agreement on Multiethnic Local Government in Bujanovac Begins

Bujanovac
– As of today, the implementation of the Agreement on Multiethnic Local Government in Bujanovac and on the Serbs that will join its institutions, which was signed on October 21, 2010, begins.

Representatives of the Serbian political groups in Bujanovac, as it was specified in the agreement, shall firstly get two top positions in the local government, those of Assistant President of the Municipality and Deputy President of the Municipal Assembly.

By the first next session of the Municipal Assembly, the Serbian representatives shall have  proposed their candidates for three Heads of Municipal Departments, as well as the candidates for four members of the Municipal Council, a candidate for Deputy Head of the Health Center, a candidate for Head of the Pharmacy and a candidate for Head of the Library. The Serbian negotiators and signatories of the agreement, Stojanaca Arsic, PhD, who is Leader of the Group of Citizens named after him, and Sasa Pesic, a trustee of the Democratic Party (DP), pointed out with satisfaction that the act of signing the agreement was “a great day for all of us”.

“We haven’t completed our talks on our participation in the local government by this agreement. By the act of signing the agreement, we provided a good basis and excellent assumptions for specifying, by the next elections, our principles, as well as  for reaching a perennial formula for establishing each future local government”, Mr. Arsic, PhD, said.

In addition to three deputies in the local  parliament, who are from the Group of Citizens, the “Coalition for European Serbia”, which was led during the negotiations by Sasa Pesic, a DP trustee, shall also get three seats  in the local parliament.

“All citizens of Bujanovac experienced the signing of the agreement as something that  provided them hope”.
That is why this is the right moment for Bujanovac to send an invitation to all domestic  and foreign donors, who would, by investing their funds here, assist with ensuring a better future for the citizens of Bujanovac”, Mr. Prsic said.

The former government in Bujanovac consisted of three Albanian political parties, which included the Party for Democratic Action (PDA) of MP Riza Halimi, the Movement for Democratic Progress (MDP) of Jonuz Musliu and the Democratic Union of the Albanians (DUA) of Mejdi Zeciri, MD.
