NUMBER OF PERSONS SUFFERING FROM MEASLES IN PCINJ DISTRICT REDUCED

27. June 2018.

Presevo, Bujanovac - Over the past ten days, there were only six people infected with measles in the Pcinj district, in which there have been 640 registered patients suffering from the disease so far. Most patients, 270 of them, are in Surdulica, while the fewest of them are in Bosilegrad, where only one case of measles was registered.

According to Dr. Sladjan Stankovic, an epidemiologist at the Institute of Public Health in Vranje, persons suffering from measles were mainly those who were born in the period from 1980 to 1990.

"Unlike the previous months, only individual cases are recorded now, which makes the epidemiological situation much better. People spend a lot of time outdoors, which reduces the possibility of infection. However, the epidemic of measles has not yet been declared over, since it is done only after a period of double incubation from the last case of measles passes, " Dr. Stankovic said.

The epidemic of measles in the Pcinj district is still ongoing in Presevo, Bujanovac, Vranje, Surdulica, Trgoviste and Vladicin Han.
